Isla Mujeres - September 2011 - Random Pics Part 2

A breathtaking view at Punta Sur with the ruins of the Goddess Ixchel's temple in the distance
Buckets of flowers at Playa Media Luna for a wedding at Maria del Mar
Yes, the water really is this blue

Ahhh....
The sunset from the East side of the island is pretty, too. The sky turns pink and vivid blue
Late afternoon fishermen

My friend Catz loves this blue wall. This old hotel was supposed to be torn down, but sometimes things in Mexico move slowly.

This orange and white kitty is so sweet and personable. She lives on the road by the cemetery on the way to Ixchel. My friend Christine loves her, so we refer to her as 'Christine's cat' and go by and feed her whenever we are on the island. Unlike some of the other stray cats, she isn't scared of people.
Mr. Crab had apparently lost his way while running errands downtown, so we gave him a lift back to the beach
Our view while dining at Velasquez. Gerald wouldn't get up and dance with me and fall into the water like Jeff Bridges and Rachel Ward in 'Against All Odds' (that part was filmed here)

Beautiful bouginvilla on the walk to Playa Norte
Playa Norte morning. It looked like rain, but never really did
Beach rakers ready to go to work in the morning

A beautiful view across Playa Media Luna
Waves crash on Playa Media Luna
Well...hello there!

A beautiful sunrise and the promise of another day in paradise

Pick your poison. Good times at Casa Sirena experimenting with different drink tastes

Isla Mujeres - September 2011- Random Part 1

Some of these pics are from Capitan Dulche, the new Pirate Museum/event venue on Isla Mujeres. It is located on the West side of the island. It's a very cool place with a lot of old sea artifacts, a giant pirate ship/bar and a private beach. We had a tasty lunch there with friends.

The Pirate Ship is surrounded by a bar and the entire platform will (supposedly) turn slowly. We could see the mechanism in the decking and it looked pretty impressive.
A hill of corn grinding stones. There were lots of 'Children of the Corn' jokes because it looks a little creepy, like a graveyard. Cool, tho!
Next door the Shell house, I noticed this ancient bus or rv? It looks like something from Planet of the Apes or some sci fi movie
Very large dining area at Capitan Dulche Museum
Courtyard of Casa Sirena
This guy was rockin a Mohawk and a do it yourself Speedo effect swimsuit
Beautiful Beach Day!!!
There were about six or seven college age girls sitting to our left on the beach that day. They were having a good time and they really, really liked taking pics. :) After a while, a group of three or four college age boys sat down on our right, so we were the barrier between the raging hormones.
The boys went out about 15 feet into the ocean and sat down, positioning themselves like an audience for the girls. One of the girls (the brazen one with long curly hair) strutted her stuff out into the ocean and put on a fantastic show for the boys, inspecting her bikini, tan lines, or whatever. She was joined by one of the other girls. Then, POOF, the girls left! Nicely played, Girls!
The grounds at Capitan Dulce Museum. Look at that green grass!
Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirate's life for me!
Me, cooling off in the sea
The Shell House
Our favorite beach area
On our return ferry (The evil one, as opposed to the good one that brings us to the island) they unloaded a man from an ambulance and wheeled him onto the ferry. The gurney stayed parked in the aisle between the rows of seats down inside the ferry. The guy didn't look good at all. :(
There has never been a more beautiful and perfect day on the island
